Southeast Asia sees growth in private 5G and diagnostic markets

Southeast Asia is seeing significant growth in specialized technology sectors, specifically in private 5G networks and rapid diagnostic testing. The private 5G market in the region, valued at approximately $83 million in 2021, is projected to reach $1.9 billion by 2030. This growth is driven by industries such as mining, manufacturing, and ports that require high-reliability connections for automation and real-time sensor tracking. In Singapore, Singtel and Ericsson have implemented 5G solutions at the Tuas mega port to support automated guided vehicles and critical operations.

Simultaneously, the ASEAN rapid diagnostic test market is expected to grow from an estimated $1.08 billion in 2025 to $1.36 billion by 2030. This expansion is fueled by the rising prevalence of chronic and infectious diseases, increased investment in healthcare infrastructure, and a shift toward point-of-care testing. Glucose monitoring products currently hold a significant market share as demand for decentralized, rapid diagnostic tools increases across hospitals and home-care settings.
