Southeast Sulawesi adjusts 2026 budget and faces calls for higher mining revenue

Southeast Sulawesi is undergoing significant fiscal adjustments for 2026. Governor Andi Sumangerukka announced that the regional budget (APBD) for the 2026 fiscal year will increase by Rp373.25 billion, raising total regional expenditure from Rp4.075 trillion to Rp4.448 trillion. This adjustment aims to refine regional development goals toward inclusive and sustainable economic growth, following a positive economic growth rate of 6.23 percent in the first quarter of 2026.

In a separate discussion regarding resource management, economic observer Abdul Rahman Farisi has called for an increase in the Mining Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH) for the province. He noted that while Southeast Sulawesi contributes approximately Rp118 trillion annually to the central government from the mining sector, the province's 2025 DBH was recorded at only about Rp800 billion. Farisi proposed that a larger portion of these funds, potentially up to 30 percent, should be allocated toward strategic long-term benefits such as scholarships for the younger generation.
