Southeast Sulawesi auctions seized nickel ore and heavy equipment

The Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office conducted a simultaneous auction of state-seized assets on October 29, 2026, involving eight local prosecutor offices. The auction featured 47 piles of nickel ore totaling 20,048.84 metric tons, alongside various heavy equipment including excavators, dump trucks, and graders.

Of the total assets offered, mining-related items—specifically heavy machinery and nickel ore—accounted for approximately 78.5 percent of the total limit value. The assets were seized following legal proceedings related to various crimes, including mining, oil and gas, narcotics, and theft. The auction aimed to optimize asset recovery and increase non-tax state revenue.

The event resulted in temporary sales of approximately Rp8.18 billion from 19 successful lots. Southeast Sulawesi remains a critical region for the national industry, contributing roughly 36 percent of Indonesia's total nickel production.
