Southern California flood watch issued amid heavy rain forecasts
A flood watch has been issued for Southern California, with forecasts predicting rainfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour.
In response to the potential for heavy rain, San Diego County and CAL FIRE have established distribution points for free sand and sandbags. These resources are available to residents in unincorporated areas to help protect homes and property from flooding, erosion, and mudslides.
Distribution sites include various fire stations in locations such as Bonita, Fallbrook, Julian, Ramona, and Valley Center, as well as the Lakeside River Park Conservancy and the Spring Valley library. Residents are advised to call ahead to confirm availability due to limited supplies and are reminded to bring their own shovels if they need to fill bags. Authorities also recommend clearing nearby drains and sewers to prevent blockages.
