Southern California gas prices see fifth consecutive day of declines

Gasoline prices in Southern California have continued a downward trend, with Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties reporting their fifth consecutive day of decreases for self-serve regular gasoline.

In Los Angeles County, the average price dropped to $5.664, while Orange County saw prices fall to $5.606. In San Diego County, the average price decreased by one cent to $5.694. Despite these recent declines, prices in these regions remain significantly higher than they were a year ago and have increased since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on February 28, which drove oil prices up.

Experts suggest the downward trend may continue if oil prices remain below $82 a barrel and supply stays steady. Nationally, the average price dropped to $4.022, marking its eighth consecutive decrease. AAA noted that seasonal shifts, such as the start of the fall semester and reduced summer road tripping, typically contribute to lower prices during this period.
