Southern California police dismantle $4.3 million catalytic converter theft ring
Law enforcement agencies have dismantled a major catalytic converter theft ring operating across Los Angeles and Orange counties. Following a three-month investigation, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, working alongside several assisting agencies, served search warrants that led to the arrest of five suspects.
Authorities recovered approximately 2,400 suspected stolen catalytic converters, which are estimated to have a value of roughly $4.3 million. In addition to the converters, officers seized more than $105,000 in cash, two unregistered firearms, and large shipping boxes containing precious metals.
The suspects, facing charges of grand theft and conspiracy, are identified as Jorge Alberto Delgadillo, Julio Moreno Reyes, Gilberto Valdovino, Brayan Cruz De Leon, and Hugo Saenz Marin.
