Southern Illinois University advisers union begins negotiations

Advisers at Southern Illinois University (SIU) have formed the Southern Illinois Administrative Professional Association union and are preparing to enter negotiations with the university.

Scheduled for September 28, the bargaining process aims to address equitable salary, advancement, and compensation for additional workloads. The rescheduled meeting follows a previous cancellation on September 18 and now exceeds the 60-day deadline for bargaining to begin under the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Act.

The university's negotiation team is expected to include directors, provosts, and administrators. The union representative, Rachel Tollett, issued the initial demand to bargain in July.
