Southern Illinois University athletics updates

Southern Illinois University (SIU) men’s basketball is preparing for the 2026-27 season under head coach Scott Nagy. Following a 16-16 overall record last season, the roster features several returning players, including sophomore guard Jalen Haynes and forwards Max Pikaar and Jaheem Webber. The team has also added transfers such as Brock McClure, Donovan Hill, and Jaxson Fugate. The Salukis are scheduled to open their season on November 2 against Maryville at the Banterra Center, followed by the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In volleyball, Murray State University completed a season sweep of SIU after winning a five-set match at Davies Gym. Despite a fourth-set comeback by the Salukis, the Racers secured the victory behind a performance from five double-digit hitters, led by Anne Makowski with 19 kills.
