Southern Italian leaders called to unite against differentiated autonomy

Filomena Greco, a regional councilor for Casa Riformista-Italia Viva in Calabria, has issued a call to mayors and administrators across Southern Italy to unite against differentiated autonomy. She argues that the Calderoli Law threatens to increase inequalities and undermine constitutional principles of equality and solidarity.

Greco is proposing a cross-party alliance to focus on key areas including health, education, employment, infrastructure, and resource equity. Her proposal includes demanding the effective application of the 40% clause in relevant programs and establishing a plan to recover resources owed to the Mezzogiorno. She emphasized that these resources must be converted into services and jobs to prevent population loss and the subsequent weakening of political representation.
