Southern Italy stages zero‑impact 'Sol dell’Alba' concert and Verdi's AIDA opera in 2026

On 8 August 2026, the Teatro Mediterraneo in Bisceglie will host the eighth edition of “Sol dell’Alba”, an immersive zero‑impact concert by the Orchestra Filarmonica Pugliese. Conducted by Maestro Giovanni Minafra, more than 80 musicians will perform from pre‑dawn until sunrise over the Adriatic, with no artificial lighting or amplification and an Ecoevent certification from Legambiente.

Later that summer, the Cava del Sole in Matera will present “AIDA – La Figlia del Nilo”, a large‑scale Verdi opera production. Over 200 artists will appear, including the newly formed Orchestra Sinfonica del Mediterraneo (about 80 musicians) under Maestro Francesco Zingariello and an international Mediterranean choir. Both events are part of the 2026 Mediterranean cultural programme, emphasizing cross‑border artistic collaboration and environmental sustainability.
