Southern leaders mark 55th anniversary of Southern Army establishment

Leaders of the Southern Transitional Council and the Southern National Movement marked the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Southern Army with speeches emphasizing regional security and institutional strength.

Aidarous al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, highlighted the military's role in protecting southern territories and combating terrorism. He noted that the modern forces have successfully secured large areas, including Hadramaut and Al-Mahrah, to prevent the smuggling of weapons and drugs and to counter extremist groups. Al-Zoubaidi stated that the forces remain a key partner in maintaining regional stability and protecting international maritime navigation.

Abdulraouf al-Saqqaf, President of the Southern National Movement, described the army as a national institution embodying sovereignty and discipline. He emphasized the need to transform military and security achievements into sustainable political and institutional strength. Al-Saqqaf called for unified political efforts to protect southern interests and strengthen partnerships with regional allies, including Saudi Arabia, to address threats from Houthi militias and other regional instabilities.
