Southern Lithuania adopts unified electronic bus ticket system

A regional electronic ticket system for bus travel has been launched across five municipalities in southern Lithuania – Druskininkai, Alytus city, Alytus district, Lazdijai and Varėna. The Central Project Management Agency audited the project and confirmed that the system and installed equipment meet all technical specifications, marking the proper use of European Union investment funds.

Passengers can now pay for bus rides with a bank card, an electronic wallet or a dedicated Druskininkai card, and view real‑time bus locations, arrival times and route planning through the “Edzūkija” mobile application. The technology was supplied and integrated by the company Kautra. Druskininkai mayor Ričardas Malinauskas called the project one of the largest joint public‑transport initiatives undertaken by the southern Lithuanian municipalities.
