The University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles have secured a home game against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions for September 25, 2027 at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg. The contract, obtained through a public‑records request, guarantees the Lions $350,000 for the matchup. The two programs have met 23 times, with Southern Miss leading the series 20‑3.

Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles are preparing for the 2026 season under first‑year head coach Blake Anderson, who succeeded Charles Huff. Anderson has overseen one of the nation’s largest roster turnovers, blending transfers, G5 recruits and JUCO talent. Notable quarterbacks include returning starter Landry Lyddy, contender John White, and transfer Ethan Hampton, who previously played at Illinois and Northern Illinois.
