Southern Railway announces Diwali specials and service updates in Kerala
Southern Railway has announced several service adjustments and special train operations across Kerala to manage passenger traffic during the Diwali festival season.
Due to engineering works for commissioning electronic interlocking at Kalamasseri Station, the Bengaluru–Ernakulam Junction Vande Bharat Express will be partially cancelled on October 27, 2026. The service will be short-terminated at Thrissur, meaning the segment between Thrissur and Ernakulam Junction will not operate as scheduled.
To accommodate holiday travelers, special services have been introduced, including the Thiruvananthapuram North–Hazrat Nizamuddin Express Special, which will run three services each way on specific dates in November. Additionally, special services between Thiruvananthapuram North and Tambaram have been scheduled.
Separately, the Thiruvananthapuram Rail Division conducted a cleanliness and passenger engagement drive across 102 stations as part of the nationwide Special Campaign 6.0. This initiative included ‘Rail Jan Samvaad’ sessions, where officials interacted with passengers and students to gather feedback on safety, punctuality, and amenities.
