Southern Thailand launches regional sports initiatives in Pattani and Songkhla

Local authorities in Southern Thailand are launching major regional sports initiatives to promote community health and youth development.

In Pattani, the Bo Thong Subdistrict Municipality has inaugurated the ‘Bo Thong Cup 2026’. Running from August 22 to September 2, 2026, the tournament features 50 teams competing in six categories, including football, sepak takraw, volleyball, and petanque. The initiative aims to provide a creative outlet for youth to build discipline and social immunity against drug use.

Simultaneously, the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization has commenced its 2026 sports and athletics program to drive the ‘Songkhla Sports City’ mission. Held throughout August 2026, the event covers 11 sports disciplines, such as football, basketball, swimming, and cycling. The program is designed to provide local athletes with competitive experience and a pathway to higher-level national and international competition.
