Southern Transitional Council announces general mobilization in Yemen

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) has issued a press communiqué following an extraordinary meeting of its central and local bodies in Aden. The announcement signals a strategic shift in the political and military landscape of southern Yemen, characterized by a call for general popular mobilization.

Key objectives include organizing a mass rally to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the October 14 Revolution and increasing military readiness along contact lines and borders. The STC emphasized that the security of the south is non-negotiable, specifically addressing Houthi militias and terrorist groups.

The council also explicitly rejected what it termed ‘artificial coordination councils,’ viewing them as attempts by competing parties to create alternative political entities in Aden and the southern provinces. The STC aims to consolidate its exclusive representation of the southern cause through two main tracks: a diplomatic and popular track to demonstrate its support base to international powers, and a military track to unify armed forces, resistance, and tribal elements into a single defense system.
