Southern Transitional Council calls for general mobilization in Yemen
Aidarous al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), has declared a general mobilization in southern Yemen. He has called for a massive public rally, titled the ‘General People’s Mobilization Rally for the Defense of Southern Arabia and its National Cause,’ to take place in Aden and across southern provinces on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
The mobilization aims to support southern armed forces and defend the STC’s political project of restoring a fully sovereign southern state. Al-Zoubaidi emphasized the need for continued confrontation with Houthi militias and their regional influence, while also calling for international and regional recognition of the Southern State.
STC Secretary-General Waddah al-Halimi has urged supporters to ensure the rally remains peaceful and organized. He specifically instructed participants to avoid any escalation or insults toward Saudi Arabia, stating that such restraint is necessary to foster dialogue and build trust with regional partners. The Southern Academic Body has also issued a call for citizens to participate in the event to demonstrate popular support for southern self-determination.
