Southlake officials file complaint over Texas power outages

Southlake, Texas, officials have filed a formal complaint with the Public Utility Commission of Texas regarding persistent power outages provided by Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC). The complaint, submitted by Mayor Shawn McCaskill and the Carroll Independent School District board president, cites eight outages occurring between April and August.

City leaders expressed concern that these disruptions during extreme summer heat pose significant risks to the health and safety of residents, particularly those in healthcare facilities and schools. Local small businesses have also reported financial difficulties due to the unreliable service.

TCEC acknowledged that the recent level of outages is “unacceptable” and stated it is directing more resources to the area, including accelerated tree trimming, to address the issue. State regulators typically have 15 days to investigate once a formal complaint is received.
