Southland community foundations and relief funds reach new milestones

The Southland Foundation has reached a milestone of $5 million in funds under management. Established in 2024, the organization stewards charitable funds for individuals, families, and businesses to support community initiatives across the Southland region.

Separately, the Southland Mayoral Relief Fund has transitioned from immediate post-storm recovery to long-term resilience. Community groups, iwi organizations, and not-for-profits in the Invercargill City, Southland District, or Gore District areas can now apply for preparedness grants ranging from $500 to $5,000. These funds, remaining from the October 2025 severe weather event, are intended to support practical projects that improve community response and recovery for future emergencies.
