Southside Melbourne Flyers secure comeback victory over Tasmania Jewels

The Southside Melbourne Flyers achieved their first victory of the WNBL season, overcoming a 14-point deficit to defeat the Tasmania Jewels 91-77 at the State Basketball Centre. This win marks the first victory for head coach Sam Mackinnon in his debut season with the team.

Led by Hannah Hank, who scored 23 points, the Flyers dominated the final two quarters with a 46-31 run. Other key contributors included Tess Heal with 21 points, Sakima Walker with 16, Madi Ryan with 14, and Chinese international Wang Siyu with 11.

Despite a roster characterized by its youth and recent off-season departures of veteran players, the team has embraced its developmental focus. Hannah Hank noted that the squad's young age is a strength they intend to use to grow and compete within the league.
