Southwest Airlines to launch direct flights to Guanacaste in 2027
Southwest Airlines has announced the launch of two new direct flight routes to Guanacaste Airport, Costa Rica, scheduled for 2027. These routes will connect the airport to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in Texas and Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Tennessee.
The Austin route is set to operate on Saturdays and Sundays from June 5 to August 1, 2027. The Nashville connection will fly on Saturdays from June 5 to July 31, 2027, following a previously announced operation for February through April of that year. Both routes will utilize Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with a capacity of 175 passengers.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and the Tamarindo Chamber of Commerce and Tourism noted that these direct connections are vital for the region, as the United States remains the largest market for Costa Rican tourism. The Austin service specifically marks the return of non-stop flights between these two locations.
