Southwire to invest $256 million in Mississippi expansion
Southwire, a major North American wire and cable manufacturer, is expanding its operations in Starkville, Mississippi. The project involves a corporate investment exceeding $256 million and is expected to create 128 new jobs.
The expansion will add approximately 380,000 square feet to the existing facility, including new manufacturing machinery and equipment to meet rising market demand. This initiative is part of a broader $2 billion modernization commitment by Southwire across its various locations.
Financial assistance for the project is being provided by the Mississippi Development Authority through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program, with additional support from the city of Starkville and Oktibbeha County. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with the facility expected to reach full capacity by 2028.
