Soutomaior's Semana Grande kicks off August with music and gastronomy
The town of Soutomaior in Galicia will host the third edition of its Semana Grande from August 1 to 7. The festivities open on Saturday with a traditional chupinazo at 21:00, accompanied by the Mekanika Rolling Band leading a street parade, followed by a concert by the Bravú Xangai orchestra. Throughout the week the Torreiro da Feira da Dez in Candán will feature performances by the Panorama, Kubo, and París de Noia orchestras, as well as mobile discos such as La Mega CDC, Dolce Vita and Eme Music. Sunday marks the Día da Cociña, a local cuisine celebration with a vermú session, showcooking and a popular lunch. A shuttle bus will run on August 3, 5 and 7 to transport visitors between the Alfonso Pazos pavilion and the festival grounds. The programme also includes a religious procession on Thursday and a traditional romería on Friday.
