Europe celebrates autumn harvest through regional festivals and culinary traditions
Various European regions are celebrating the autumn harvest through local festivals and cultural campaigns. In Italy, numerous towns are hosting traditional events, such as the biodiversity-focused festival in Castellana, the pumpkin festival in Fagnano Olona, and the chestnut celebrations in Cassano Irpino and Nomaglio. Other regional traditions include the Sagra della Ciuìga in San Lorenzo in Banale and the San Martino festival in Soverato, which highlights grapes and chestnuts.
On a broader scale, the ‘Charming Taste of Europe’ campaign, co-funded by the European Union, is promoting the agricultural heritage of regions like Abruzzo, Bordeaux, and Imathia to international audiences. This initiative highlights how seasonal rhythms and local expertise shape products like wine and kiwis. Additionally, Abruzzo is showcasing its culinary identity at the Messina Street Food Fest, featuring traditional recipes and regional wines to connect with younger consumers.
