Cherivent wins Leopard Stakes (GIII) at Niigata Racecourse

Cherivent, a three-year-old colt, secured its first graded stakes victory by winning the Leopard Stakes (GIII) at Niigata Racecourse on August 9. Ridden by Seinosuke Yoshimura, the sixth favorite managed to close the gap in the final straight to win by a head.

This victory marks the third JRA graded stakes win for 20-year-old jockey Yoshimura. The horse, sired by Contrail, achieved this win in its tenth career start. Trainer Hisashi Shimizu noted that special adjustments were made to the horse's training to account for the heat, which helped the horse deliver a strong performance.

By winning the race, Cherivent has earned priority entry into the Japan Dirt Classic (JPN1). However, trainer Shimizu stated that the immediate priority is to allow the horse to rest before considering future race entries.
