Sovereignty wins Whitney Stakes; Induction debuts at Colonial Downs
In Thoroughbred horse racing, Sovereignty secured a significant victory in the $1 million Grade 1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on August 8. The 4-year-old son of Into Mischief, owned by Godolphin, overcame a slow start to win by 4 3/4 lengths, finishing with a time of 1:47.91. This win earns Sovereignty an automatic berth into the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland.
Separately at Colonial Downs, the two-year-old Induction recorded the first win for his freshman sire, Scalding. Owned by Pin Oak Stud, LLC, Induction won a maiden special weight race by two lengths, marking a successful debut for the offspring of the Scalding-Right to Freedom pairing.
