Sovico Group and Hamburg sign partnership to boost Vietnam-Germany ties

Sovico Group, a major Vietnamese conglomerate, and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg have signed a Partnership Agreement to strengthen economic ties between Vietnam and Germany. The agreement focuses on expanding cooperation across several sectors, including aviation, railways, finance, logistics, technology, and education.

During the Hamburg–Sovico Strategic Business & Partnership Forum 2026, Sovico Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao proposed exploring direct air links between the two nations and advancing discussions on airport infrastructure, maritime transport, and urban rail. Potential projects under discussion include the Long Thanh and Gia Binh airport developments, high-speed rail, and smart city technologies in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Hanoi.

Hamburg First Mayor Peter Tschentscher met with Thao to discuss opportunities for businesses within the Sovico ecosystem to connect with German partners. The partnership aims to utilize Hamburg as a gateway to European markets for Vietnamese businesses.
