S&P 500 climbs roughly 0.8% to about 7,540 points in New York trading

The S&P 500 finished higher on Friday, gaining about 0.81% to close at 7,543.64 points, valuing its constituents at roughly €62.3 billion. Earlier in the session the index rose 0.32% to 7,567.73 points, marking a weekly increase of around 0.8% and a year‑to‑date gain of over 10%.

Leading gainers included Cerebras Systems, CarMax, Fortune Brands Home Security, Meta Platforms and SanDisk, while the biggest laggards were Moderna, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Netflix and Datadog. Nvidia recorded the highest trading volume and remains the most valuable stock in the index with a market capitalisation of over €4 trillion. The lowest price‑to‑earnings ratio in the index was reported for First Republic Bank, and Western Union offered the highest dividend yield according to FactSet estimates.
