SP Regula faces internal dispute over R$ 7 billion lighting contract

Internal disputes have emerged within SP Regula, the agency responsible for overseeing public concessions in São Paulo, regarding a R$ 7 billion public lighting contract. Documents reveal that directors are pressuring the agency's president, João Manuel da Costa Neto, to restart the bidding process to replace the current consortium with a provider that offered a lower cost to the municipality.

During a recent meeting, Director Marcos Garcia formally requested the immediate resumption of the bidding process. When the request was denied by the president, Garcia registered a formal protest in the minutes, expressing concern over potential legal consequences that could affect his future retirement. In response, Costa Neto maintained that all actions taken by the agency comply with current legislation and best practices.
