SP3 Maratea-Trecchina road repairs accelerate following rockfall
Authorities in Basilicata are accelerating technical assessments to address hydrogeological instability on the SP3 road connecting Maratea and Trecchina. Following a rockfall on September 28 at Passo Colla, the Province of Potenza closed the route in both directions to ensure safety.
To expedite the process, the government's commissioner for hydrogeological instability has extended an existing contract to the Smart Project group. Technical surveys involving specialized measurement equipment are scheduled for October 12, with final project documents expected by Friday, October 16.
The objective is to initiate urgent construction work to mitigate landslide risks and reopen the road safely. Engineers are also evaluating whether provisional stabilization works can be integrated into permanent structural solutions to optimize resources and reduce long-term execution times.
