Spa Castle faces lawsuit over bacterial infection claim

A Brooklyn resident and US Navy veteran, Cleopatra Brown, has filed a lawsuit against Spa Castle in College Point, Queens, alleging she contracted a serious bacterial infection at the facility.

According to the filing in Brooklyn Supreme Court, Brown developed cellulitis—an infection of the deep skin layers—on her right leg and foot following a birthday celebration at the bathhouse on July 30. The lawsuit claims the facility failed to maintain safe disinfectant levels in its pools and hot tubs, and neglected to properly sterilize towels, robes, and locker room surfaces.

Brown, an ordained minister and member of the New York State Senate’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame, is seeking unspecified damages. The lawsuit alleges the spa failed to maintain its business in a reasonably safe manner.
