Space agencies outline future goals for Mars colonies and Indian space station

Space agencies are outlining long-term goals for human presence in space. Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of Roscosmos, expressed his vision for establishing permanent human colonies on Mars. He noted that while telescopes are currently searching for habitable planets, current technological achievements provide less than one percent of the necessary knowledge required to safely organize such missions. Bakanov indicated that life support technologies will first be tested on the Moon to prepare for future interplanetary flights.

In a separate development, ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan announced that India aims to establish its own indigenous space station, the Bharatiya Antariksha Station (BAS), by 2035. The first module for the station has already received approval. Narayanan highlighted that India's space technology is increasingly being applied to over 50 sectors, including agriculture, disaster management, and communication, as the nation seeks to expand its role in the global space sector.
