Space Aviation launches helicopter shuttle between Kansai Airport and Kyoto

Space Aviation has officially launched the ‘Airport Heli Shuttle’, a new helicopter service connecting Kansai International Airport to the JPD Kyoto Heliport in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto. The service, which commenced operations on September 15, 2026, offers a flight time of approximately 25 minutes.

To make helicopter travel more accessible, the service utilizes a shared-ride model. Instead of full aircraft charters, passengers can book individual seats for 20,000 yen per one-way trip. The service operates eight flights per day (four round trips) using Airbus Helicopters H130 aircraft, which can accommodate up to six passengers.

While the flight significantly reduces travel time compared to ground transport, passengers must account for additional travel from the Fushimi heliport to central Kyoto areas like Kyoto Station or Shijo Kawaramachi, which typically takes 20 to 30 minutes by car. The service also includes options for transporting large luggage directly to hotels to accommodate travelers.
