Space economy investment grows through Rocket Lab and specialized ETFs
The space economy is seeing increased investor interest through both individual stocks and specialized Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Rocket Lab is positioned as a growing competitor to SpaceX, driven by its Electron rocket launch cadence and expanding capabilities in space systems manufacturing, such as satellite development and communications. Rocket Lab has reported a revenue increase of approximately 870% since its 2021 public offering, with a backlog valued at $2.36 billion.
Investment options in the sector include various space-themed ETFs, which offer different levels of exposure to the industry. For example, the Tema Space Innovators ETF (NASA) and the Roundhill Space & Tech ETF (MARS) include SpaceX as a top holding. Other funds, such as the Procure Space ETF (UFO), focus on commercial satellite operators and hardware, while the VanEck Space Innovators UCITS ETF provides exposure to European satellite and space technology.
