Space exploration initiatives focus on Artemis program in Spain and Mexico

Educational initiatives regarding space exploration and the Artemis program are being organized in Fuengirola, Spain, and Tampico, Mexico.

In Fuengirola, the Casa de la Cultura Manuel Delgado Perea will host two conferences on September 16 and 17. The sessions will feature specialists with experience in NASA and European Space Agency (ESA) programs. Topics include the transition from the Apollo program to Artemis, the strategic importance of the lunar south pole, and the infrastructure required for sustained human presence on the Moon as a stepping stone for Mars exploration. Speakers include Valeriano Claros Guerra, an engineer with experience in NASA and ESA satellite tracking stations, and Jesús Jiménez Ibáñez, an aeronautical engineer with experience in International Space Station projects.

In Tampico, the Barco Museo del Niño will host an educational activity titled ‘Misión Artemis II: ¿Cómo son las naves espaciales?’ on September 26. Held in collaboration with the Tampico Astronomy and Astrophysics Society, the event aims to teach children and families about the technologies and scientific challenges involved in lunar missions and spacecraft design.
