Space Seed Holdings files patent for high-pressure sintering technology
Space Seed Holdings Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Professor Kazuhiro Mori of Okayama University of Science, has filed two patent applications regarding advanced material manufacturing technologies.
The primary patent covers a high-pressure sintering device capable of achieving GPa-level pressure combined with Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). Unlike traditional methods that require dedicated ultra-high-pressure presses, this system can be retrofitted onto existing universal material testing machines. This approach aims to reduce equipment costs and improve accessibility for manufacturing new materials.
Key technical features include an elastic fastening system using disc springs to maintain pressure during thermal expansion, and a detachable anvil module that allows for quick replacement and precise electrical contact. The company has successfully demonstrated the production of colorless, transparent amorphous silica glass at approximately 3 GPa and 500°C, a temperature significantly lower than the standard melting method of 1700°C or higher.
The second patent application concerns a method for manufacturing composite heat dissipation members intended for SiC/GaN power semiconductor applications.
