SpaceSail certifies residential satellite antenna in Brazil
Chinese satellite constellation operator SpaceSail, also known as Qianfan, has received regulatory approval from Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) for its residential antenna, model STG-S001-A0. This certification marks a significant step toward the company entering the Brazilian market to compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink.
The certified equipment is designed for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity, targeting regions where traditional fiber optic infrastructure is difficult to install. Technical specifications for the antenna include a rectangular design measuring 48 x 36 x 4 cm, weighing approximately 4 kg, and featuring IP65 dust and water resistance. The device includes a 15-meter cable and supports Wi-Fi 5 connectivity.
According to technical documentation, the service aims to provide download speeds of up to 400 Mb/s and upload speeds of up to 100 Mb/s. While the hardware certification is a major regulatory milestone, official details regarding commercial plans, pricing, and the specific launch date for consumer services have not yet been finalized.
