SpaceX AI Satellite Network and NASA Pegasus Rover Drive New Space Infrastructure
SpaceX is planning a massive network of up to one million AI‑enabled satellites that would function as orbital data centers, providing high‑power computing and laser links to support large‑scale artificial‑intelligence workloads. The design calls for each satellite to generate up to 150 kilowatts of power and operate as a cooling‑free computer in low‑Earth orbit, extending the limits of current ground‑based data‑center capacity.
NASA has selected the next‑generation lunar rover "Pegasus," built by Lunar Outpost, to support the agency’s goal of a permanent base at the Moon’s south pole. Pegasus can operate autonomously, be piloted by astronauts, or be remotely controlled from Earth, and includes an automatic thermal‑management system to survive temperature swings from –246 °C to +121 °C. The rover is intended to help exploit polar ice deposits for water, oxygen, and fuel production, extending human presence on the lunar surface.
