SpaceX and Charter negotiate US mobile phone partnership

SpaceX and Charter Communications have held executive‑level talks about a consumer mobile phone partnership in the United States. Charter, the nation’s largest home‑internet provider, could carry some of SpaceX’s phone traffic over its ground‑based internet infrastructure, similar to its existing Spectrum Mobile service.

If a deal is reached, it would help SpaceX expand its Starlink Mobile offering — a $10‑per‑month add‑on sold through T‑Mobile that enables text and internet‑based calls from remote areas. SpaceX, fresh from a historic IPO, recently secured mobile spectrum in the FCC’s AWS‑3 band and previously purchased rights from EchoStar. President Gwynne Shotwell said Starlink Mobile is expected to far exceed the company’s home broadband users. Charter declined comment, and SpaceX did not respond to requests for comment.
