SpaceX and Malaysia discuss expanding Starlink internet access

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with a SpaceX delegation in Putrajaya to discuss expanding internet access in Malaysia through Starlink. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation to improve connectivity for rural populations, specifically in Sabah, Sarawak, and Orang Asli settlements in the Peninsula.

As part of the meeting, SpaceX donated 50 Starlink kits to support Malaysia’s national disaster preparedness efforts. Anwar also welcomed the operation of Starlink’s Point of Presence (PoP) infrastructure in Cyberjaya, which is intended to streamline local data traffic and enhance service quality for users.

While emphasizing the importance of technological progress, the Prime Minister noted that cybersecurity, data protection, and safe internet usage must remain priorities as connectivity expands.
