SpaceX files FCC documents for Starship test in September

SpaceX has submitted documents to the FCC regarding the 14th test of its Starship rocket, with an indicated operation start date of September 15. The application mentions a ‘second stage orbital’, suggesting the company intends to attempt its first orbital insertion for the rocket's upper stage.

Starship, a fully reusable rocket standing approximately 400 feet tall, is critical for SpaceX's future deployment goals. This includes launching more capable Starlink V3 satellites and the company's Starmind artificial intelligence satellites. SpaceX also aims to utilize the low launch costs of Starship to establish space-based AI data centers powered by solar energy.

Following the successful 13th test in late July, which included the launch of 20 Starlink V3 satellites, SpaceX shares rose 5.8% in New York trading.
