SpaceX joins NVIDIA and Google in Dominican Republic tech expansion

The Dominican Republic is seeing increased interest from global technology leaders. SpaceX is currently in discussions with the Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas (ITLA) to expand internet connectivity via Starlink, particularly in rural communities, and to explore artificial intelligence training programs using xAI tools.

This follows existing initiatives involving NVIDIA, which is supporting the construction of the Dominican Republic's AI Excellence Center (CEIA-RD), and Google, which has announced plans for an international digital exchange port and a submarine cable ring to boost regional connectivity.

Other domestic developments include INTEC launching the SIIRD scientific research platform, the UASD inaugurating a new communication space for public policy debate, and ITLA partnering with Idoppril to use 3D scanning technology for manufacturing worker prosthetics.
