SpaceX Moon impact video debunked

A viral video claiming to show a SpaceX rocket hitting the Moon and creating a 30-meter crater is false. While a SpaceX Falcon 9 second stage did impact the lunar surface on August 5, no spacecraft captured the moment of impact.

Scientific observations confirmed the event. The European Southern Observatory detected spectral lines of sodium and lithium atoms in the resulting plume, which lasted for 5 to 10 minutes. Additionally, the Korea Patchfinder spacecraft captured images of the impact site during several imaging sessions, providing the only available photographs of the terrain changes around the site.
