SpaceX recovers Falcon Heavy boosters after Roman Telescope launch
SpaceX successfully recovered both side boosters from a Falcon Heavy rocket following the launch of NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. The boosters performed vertical landings at distinct locations, specifically Landing Zone 2 and Landing Zone 40, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
One of the recovered boosters was participating in its first mission, while the other was on its third. The successful recovery of these reusable components is intended to support future spaceflight missions. While the boosters returned to Earth, the Roman Space Telescope continued its trajectory into space. The telescope is designed to work alongside the Hubble and James Webb telescopes, utilizing advanced instruments like a coronagraph to image exoplanets and a Wide-Field Instrument to study the cosmos.
