SpaceX reserves Lerma hotel for solar eclipse observation

SpaceX has reportedly reserved the entire Parador de Lerma in the province of Burgos, Spain, to accommodate approximately 140 specialists during the total solar eclipse on August 12. The reservation was reportedly made 18 months in advance to ensure the team has a base within the path of totality for scientific observation and analysis.

The large-scale deployment of SpaceX personnel has fueled speculation regarding the potential presence of founder Elon Musk in the region, though his attendance remains unconfirmed. In response to the activity, the Mayor of Burgos, Cristina Ayala, issued a public invitation to Musk via the social media platform X. Ayala suggested that after Musk “made the world dream of Mars,” he should visit the Atapuerca archaeological sites to explore human history, as well as the city's cathedral and industrial sectors.
