SpaceX Starlink V3 satellites to offer 100x more bandwidth
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that the upcoming Starlink V3 satellites, intended for launch via Starship, will provide over 100 times the bandwidth of the current V2 constellation. Musk stated these performance claims are “not speculative,” projecting that SpaceX communications revenue could eventually exceed $200 billion annually.
Musk also argued that satellite connectivity will become essential for the automotive industry to manage the massive bandwidth demands of AI. He suggested that as autonomous AI agents generate internet traffic that dwarfs human usage, Starlink will be the only infrastructure capable of supporting such growth. This aligns with recent Tesla developments, such as the Cybercab, which is expected to feature a built-in Starlink V5 terminal for navigation, fleet management, and high-definition streaming.
In response to these developments, Cathie Wood of ARK Investment Management described the bandwidth leap as “astonishing” and increased her firm's SpaceX holdings, making it ARK's second-largest position.
