SpaceX Starship achieves first successful orbital flight

SpaceX’s Starship rocket has successfully reached orbit for the first time during its fourteenth test flight. Launched from the Starbase facility in Texas on September 28, the vehicle traveled at approximately 28,000 kilometers per hour. Although an engine failure occurred during the flight, mission controllers decided to continue the mission. The spacecraft completed two orbits before performing a controlled splashdown in the Pacific Ocean north of Hawaii.

This mission marked the first time Starship carried a real payload, deploying 26 next-generation Starlink satellites into orbit. The success of this orbital flight is considered a critical step for NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to use the vehicle for future lunar missions.

In addition to the Texas launch success, SpaceX is expanding its launch capabilities by preparing to fly Starship from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. Infrastructure work is currently underway at Launch Complex 39A to support the world’s largest rocket, which is designed to be fully reusable through a unique recovery method involving mechanical arms at the launch site.
