SpaceX Starship reaches orbit and deploys Starlink satellites
SpaceX’s Starship rocket successfully reached Earth orbit for the first time during its 14th full-scale test flight from South Texas. Despite an engine failure involving one of its six Raptor engines shortly after liftoff, the vehicle achieved the velocity necessary to complete an orbit and successfully deployed 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites.

Caleb Henry, director of research at Quilty Space, noted that the potential loss of Falcon 9 could create a crisis for small satellite startups. The phase-out may lead to increased launch costs, a bottleneck in orbital access, and delays in developing technologies like direct-to-cellular connectivity and space-based AI computing centers.
