SpaceX unveils slimmer, travel‑friendly Starlink dishes

SpaceX previewed two new, thinner Starlink terminals in a video interview with CEO Elon Musk. The dishes appear slimmer and lighter than current models and could fit in a backpack. One is a next‑generation version of the standard dish, dubbed “rev5,” while the other is a rugged Mini model that may include a built‑in battery and a USB‑C port. Musk said the company is producing the new terminals in higher volume, anticipating “a few hundred million Starlink terminals out there.”

No pricing details were released. The tease coincides with SpaceX’s upcoming IPO filing, which notes that Starlink now has more than 12 million active customers and 10.3 million paid subscriptions in Q1, though average revenue per user fell to $66 per month. Musk also referenced plans for “AI satellites” and dismissed worries about orbital congestion, stating, “We don't think this is a super hard problem compared to what we already do.”
