SpaceX's Starlink Unveils Rev5 Antenna and Tops 12 Million Subscribers

SpaceX is preparing a new Starlink satellite dish, identified in firmware as “rev5_pez_prod2.” The Rev5 antenna is roughly 16 % longer and 30 % taller than the portable Mini model, lacks a GPS receiver and appears to rely on the Starlink constellation for positioning. The design shifts most components to the board’s centre and is slated for production in the second quarter of 2026.

Elon Musk announced that Starlink now has more than 12 million active subscribers across over 160 countries and regions, supported by about 10 000 satellites in orbit. The forthcoming V3 satellites will deliver ten‑fold higher bandwidth and will operate at a lower altitude of about 350 km, cutting latency in half. Musk highlighted the importance of these upgrades for AI and robotics workloads and linked them to SpaceX’s upcoming IPO.
